April always brings the promise of something new for me. As I sit writing this, I’m looking out onto our deck, excited we’ll be grilling outside more, spending time on the cozy couch and eating with family and friends around the table. I’m anticipating starting fresh again this season, with a big backyard BBQ this month. Our home is our haven, and we relish entertaining with our signature mix of Southern and Spanish hospitality.
For our Home & Style issue, the cover idea was a collaboration between our design team and the editors thinking outside the box. We didn’t just want it to look like the stagnant cover of a home furnishing magazine, but we did want to amp up the style quotient. The half sketched, half photographed shot seamlessly captures the look: a happy child relaxing in a welcoming room of her home.
And on the subject of homes, this month’s cover story focuses on the array of properties available across Shanghai, with a breakdown of cost, size and location. But it’s not all about the home this month. Alex Purcell Garcia and myself interview three international fashion designers who will make you want to refresh your wardrobe or even create a new look. Rounding out our features, Ronni Rowland takes an in-depth and fascinating look at the tug-of-war between local and international education systems.
We’re hoping we’ll inspire you to try something new, from discovering a Danish lifestyle trend and mastering the perfect cream pu recipe, to visiting the Hassan’s classic yet modern home and chatting with SJ Wei, the Head of Interior Design for naked Group.
