The feeling of joy during the holiday season can make us go a little overboard on the gifts. . . Of course we love buying for the kids and family, but suddenly you find yourself looking for stuff for teachers, neighbors, bao an’s, drivers, ayis and basically every person you’ve spoken to for more than five seconds, and things can begin to creep over to the expensive side. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of gifts you can purchase from home-grown local companies that are all special, unique, and affordable.

Bebebalm

Bebebalm

Bebebalm was born out of love (and a mother’s desperation). It was originally developed to save a newborn’s face from eczema, because no moisturizer in the market was rich enough, yet gentle enough, for the baby’s damaged skin. The mom who’s geeky on natural remedies, a dermatologist aunt, and the dad who’s a biochemist and a medical doctor, formulated a super moisturizer that’s gentle enough for their baby’s sensitive skin. And it’s now the go-to moisturizer of many Shanghai mamas. Better yet, this awesome brand has expanded and not only offer Bebebalm (used to help protect and repair dry orsensitive skin), but also Bebebugs (rapid itch reliefand insect repellent), Bebebreathe (a gentle cold rub perfect for kids, and pregnant and breastfeeding moms), and Scar Rescue (to help eliminate bruises and scars).
