How To: Make Banana Ice Cream (With Video)

Cool down as the temperature rises with this easy summer snack.

Wow it’s hot! There’s nothing like a good Shanghai summer; hot, humid, sticky. The best thing you can do under these circumstances is find yourself a pool and a large bowl of ice cream to cool off. Though ice cream from the grocery store is convenient, it’s also loaded with sugars and preservatives; not so good. Would you believe me if I told you that you can enjoy a scoop of ice cream with NO added sugar, NO preservatives and only two ingredients? In fact you don’t even need any special equipment. Nope. Just a blender, some parchment paper and a bowl – that’s it!

So what is this amazing frozen sweet treat, you ask? Banana ice cream – so simple it’s crazy. I was a bit skeptical at first but my friend and food-partner-in-crime Haley, told me that it’s amazing and I had to try it. She was right – of course! All you need is frozen bananas and milk, and add any of your favorite ice cream treats. Mine? Chocolate chips! Who doesn’t like bananas and chocolate after all?

To make this summer treat, add chopped, frozen, bananas and milk to a blender and blend until smooth, like a milkshake. You may need to use a wooden spoon to help break up the banana – just remember to turn off the blender when doing so. If you fancy a little naughty treat, stir in chocolate chips and voila! You don’t even need a fancy storage container to freeze it. I used a simple glass bowl lined with parchment paper. This ice cream tastes best after freezing for 4-6 hours, as it’ll still be creamy yet easy to scoop out. Banana ice cream is going to be your family’s favorite frozen treat!

Super Healthy Banana Ice Cream

Ingredients:

3 bananas, chopped and frozen

1/4 cup milk

Chocolate chips (as desired)

Directions

  1. Chop bananas and freeze for around two hours minimum.

  2. Add frozen bananas to the milk and blend until thick (like a milkshake).

  3. Pour into a parchment-lined bowl and mix in choc- olate chips.

  4. Freeze for four hours, or until firm but still creamy, and then serve.

Freezing overnight is also fine, but once you remove the ice cream from the freezer you’ll need to let it sit on the counter for 15-20 minutes to soften before serving. Enjoy!

 

超级健康香蕉冰淇淋

配料:

根香蕉,切片冰冻杯牛奶 巧克力片(根据个人喜好)

制作冰淇淋:

1. 将香蕉切片,并冷冻最少2小时。

2. 在牛奶中加入冰冻过的香蕉并用搅拌器打碎至粘稠 状(像奶昔一样)。

3. 把香蕉奶昔倒入垫了羊皮纸的碗中,然后拌入巧克 力片。

4. 冷冻4小时,或者冷冻至变硬但仍然是奶油状,然后 开始享用。也可以冷冻一整夜,不过吃前需要从冰 箱中取出,静至一会。
