Avoid spending a fortune on products that you can just as easily make at home, plus you can rest assured that they are toxin-free!

Homemade Lipstick & Cheek Tint

DIY Lipstick

This one is super easy but works really well, plus you can make any color lipstick you want. You can also use a pink or brown crayon and double your lippy up as a cheek tint.

What you’ll need:

 • Vaseline

• 1 Candle

 • One whole Crayon (preferably Crayola)

 • Coconut oil (optional)

What next?

1. Shave your crayon down using a sharp knife.

2. Add the shavings to a spoonful of Vaseline. Play around with quantities to achieve the color you like.

3. Add a small amount of coconut oil.

4. Hold the spoon over a candle. The mixture will begin to melt together.

5. Once your mixture is melted, pour into a small container or tin and leave to harden. Once mixture is hard, apply to your lips as and when desired!

TIPS:

1. The more Vaseline you use, the glossier your lipstick will be. The more crayon you use, the smoother and rich your lipstick will be.

2. If you plan to use the lipstick as a cheek tint, use less Vaseline and more crayon so that your skin doesn't appear too shiny.

Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo

Washing your hair every day is tedious and time consuming. It’s also not great for your hair. The problem is, freshly washed hair feels great and unwashed hair…doesn't. Until now! Here’s a great recipe for dry shampoo to make hair feel clean and thick and smelling great.

What you’ll need:

 • ¼ cup cornstarch

 • 1 tablespoon baking soda

 • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (only use this if you have dark hair)

 • A funnel

 • An old salt shaker or spice jar

What next?

1. Combine cornstarch and baking soda in your container.

2. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder if you have dark hair.

3. Shake, shake, shake and shake some more.

4. Apply to your roots and brush well!

Body Shimmer

Makeup Shimmer

Why not add a bit of shimmer to your skin in the dull winter months? We recommend going for a cooler silver glow during the cold snap, but you can experiment with any color you like!

What you’ll need:

 • Your favorite body lotion (if you don’t have one, we recommend Vaseline Intensive Care or any body butter from The Body Shop)

 • A silver, gold or bronze eye shadow or highlight powder

 • A jar or container

What next?

1. Pour a decent amount (approximately a cup full) of lotion into your container.

2. Scrape out your eye shadow and smash with the back of a spoon so it becomes a loose powder.

3. Add a very small amount to your lotion. You can always add more, but if you add too much to start with, you’ll look way OTT.

4. Stir with a spoon and try the lotion on your arms or legs. Check the shimmer amount in the natural light before adding any more!

Makeup Remover Wipes

Make up wipes

Using face wipes every night can not only dry out your skin, but scrubbing and wiping your face can also cause fine lines that turn into big old wrinkles. So here’s our simple solution. Make your own gentle and moisturizing makeup remover wipes!

What you’ll need:

 • 2 tablespoons no tears baby shampoo

 • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (or olive oil if you prefer)

 • Cotton pads

 • ½ cup filtered or bottled water

 • A jar

What next?

1. Add your baby shampoo to the filtered water.

2. Add coconut (or olive) oil.

3. Stir well.

4. Soak  your cotton rounds in the mixture and then place them in your jar.

5. Pour the rest of the liquid into the jar and put the lid on.

6. Voilà! Ready to use makeup wipes!
